What is Flex Lessons?

Flex Lessons is a piano centered learning platform that provides online piano lessons in multiple formats.

This includes live online lessons via Zoom as well as self-guided education through prerecorded lessons and recording submission.

These two formats are designed to work with one another, but they can also stand on their own.

Is Flex Lessons similar to Pianote, Playground Sessions, etc?

Flex Lessons is similar to these other platforms in that it exists as an online means of improving one's skill at the piano.

However, that is where the similarity ends. Flex Lessons is entirely focused on helping students become classically trained. There is a significant emphasis on the importance of learning and reading large amounts of sheet music. There is also an emphasis on standard piano technique, music theory, and other supporting skills.

Unlike many other options, Flex Lessons is very personal. The platform is designed such that students feel like they are individually supported by the instructor. Even if a student chooses not to participate in live lessons, students are still encouraged to submit recordings of their playing for feedback, which is absolutely essential for developing serious skill.

Lastly, Flex Lessons will not support an unlimited number of members, due to the interactive nature of this platform. Membership will be limited at a certain point.

How do I know if Flex Lessons is the right fit for me?

Flex Lessons is the best fit for serious adult students who would otherwise attend traditional piano lessons.

Flex Lessons is very convenient but it is also very comprehensive and doesn't work well for students who are very casual about their interest in piano.

Flex Lessons is the right fit for you if you fit any or all of the following criteria:
  • Sustained interest in piano study
  • Interest in classical repertoire
  • Preference for traditional teaching methods
  • Interest in becoming a proficient sight reader
  • Willingness to either participate in live lessons or submit recordings
  • Skillset is currently at the beginner or intermediate level (but below the advanced level)
Flex Lessons is not a good fit for you in the following situations:
  • You are uncomfortable dealing with technology and learning online.
  • You don't wish to get any feedback about your playing.
  • You only wish to learn about popular music.
  • You are already an advanced student.

Are there any discounts?

Flex Lessons is much more of a service as opposed to a subscription to something like Netflix. This site was very labor intensive to create and requires a fair bit of time to maintain.

Because of this along with the expectation of interaction with students, Flex Lessons charges a very reasonable price for a substantial education.

With that said, if you are unable to afford this model of piano study, yet you are seriously interested, please reach out and open up a chat. Something may be able to be arranged for you!
